Jaipur aka ‘Pink City’ is the hot-spot any time of the year. One big reason for it would be its popularity as a cultural site. The forts and monuments in the city are world famous. Everybody is familiar of the historical sites like Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, et al. Apart from this the city makes its mark because of its amazing architecture. The whole city is systematically planned according to Indian Vastu Shastra. And that makes it a must for anybody to explore the city.
Being a major tourist destination in India, Jaipur city is quite famous for its art & craft and its performing arts as well. The vast history associated with the place has indeed made this city a confluence of traditions and culture. That’s the touristy part. But there is a specific reason why I called it the flavour of this month. What makes it all the more interesting is the Jaipur Literature Festival. So, if you are culturally or intellectually inclined, I’m sure the coming dates this month have already been striked off. 😉
Considered to be Asia’s largest literary festival, this festival offers a remarkable blend of works by a variety of authors. From booker prize winners to debut novelists, the five days of the festival are a treat for book lovers.
Imagine a free access to all those intellectual thoughts and literati affairs. Live music sessions and interactive workshops along with all the cultural blend, the festival is yet another reason one is ought to visit Jaipur this January. Another bonus point is that this literature festival is going to bring the Pulitzer Prize winners, the authors shortlisted for Man Booker Prize and the famous academicians from the world’s leading universities under one roof.
Pink City is definitely a place to be this January. You can explore the city, embrace the culture and visit the famous literature affair of the county, all in one go. 🙂
Bon voyage
