Frankfurt Book Fair : An event that brings together the perspectives of trade, academic and education publishers with those of technology providers… That’s where the significance of this book fair comes into play for the publications like us. And that’s how people in business like me don’t stop talking about it. And the fact that the event actually starts tomorrow keeps it on the radar for me.

Yes, tomorrow is the D-Day. The labour of six months, all that hustle-bustle to get things done, the listing down of all the publications, et al- finally it’s time for action. This world’s largest trade fair for books is important for many reasons.

The first and foremost reason is that it is one event where the entire industry gathers. I’m sure it makes sense if I say you’ll find the best of best opportunities for training and networking here. Also, it’s one place where all the new trends and fields of business are discovered. What’s in, what’s not- you get an insight of everything here.

More than that, it clears the pervasive doubts that are currently there about the industry. As of the current scenario, it may be regarding the battle between the physical books and e-books or for that matter, the timeline related to the book that makes it a matter of past and present tense.

Meanwhile the fair’s director Jürgen Boos has a different say here: “The dividing line is no longer between old and new, print and e-books, analogue and digital. Instead it runs between those who have a passion for content and who want to provide access to it, and those who don’t really care what they’re selling.” Like I said, it’s the best event to visit if you want to get a real picture of the print industry.
