All about upcoming events & exhibitions

Exhibitions are a great opportunity to connect and network with the industry you are a part of. It’s also a good way of keeping yourself updated about the new trends and players in the industry.

Being a part of the ever evolving publishing business, here’s the lowdown on events I plan to attend in the second half of 2017 and early 2018.

Beijing International Book Fair – 23rd to 27th August, 2017

After the Chinese government made it mandatory for children in the country to learn English, the publishing industry there has seen a decent growth. The need for books in English language and with English subtitles has increased significantly.

The Beijing International Book Fair 2017 will, therefore, see many first-time publishers from the US and the UK as participants. As quoted to be a growing market, I see many business opportunities in China and I might visit the Book Fair for the first time as a trade visitor.

Delhi Book Fair – 26th August to 3rd September, 2017

The 23rd edition of Delhi Book Fair, organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation and Federation of Indian Publishers, is just around the corner. I personally love attending book fairs as they play a great role in promoting the reading habit amongst people of all age groups. Like every year, you will find our team at the fair this time around also.

Frankfurt Book Fair – 11th to 13th October, 2017

The Frankfurt Book Fair is one of largest events of the publishing industry. It is the centre of the international media world and a major cultural event. Nowhere else in the world does the publishing and media industry show itself from a more diverse, innovative and international side than during these five days in October.

I’m delighted I’ll be meeting our existing clients at this event apart from working on new deals and ventures.

Sharjah International Book Fair – 1st to 11th November, 2017

We are all set for the 11-day book fair, to be held at the Sharjah Expo Centre, United Arab Emirates. The event gives everyone a chance to meet and interact with world’s most celebrated authors. It’s also an opportunity to meet almost 900 leading exhibitors from across the world.

Our Companies – M/s Prints Publications Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, and M/s Al-Khamri Commercial Enterprises, UAE – will have a joint stand at Sharjah International Book Fair, which will certainly be a stepping stone towards our business.

30th Principal’s Conference – CBSE Gulf Chapter – 2nd to 5th January, 2018

The New Year begins with the 30th Principal’s Conference – CBSE Gulf Chapter, hosted by Kuwait Chapter at Chennai, India, from 2nd to 5th January, 2018. Though I might have to miss the event, my team shall be there to meet you all.

New Delhi World Book Fair – 5th to 13th January, 2018

New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF), held for the past 45 years, is now a major calendar event in the publishing world. Organised by the National Book Trust, India – it is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Promotion of books and enhancing reading habits in the country are the key focuses of NDWBF.

Being the second oldest book fair after Kolkata Book Fair, it undoubtedly has some of the best exhibitors and visitors on the list. Looking forward to be there.

The IPA Congress – 10th to 14th February, 2018

This one is special. Being a member of the Organising Committee of IPA and Chairman of Sponsoring Committee of IPA Congress 2018, you can find me at the Taj Palace, New Delhi everyday during this event.

I would suggest everyone who is a part of the publishing business or plans to be one, must visit these exhibitions and events to know about the industry and its latest trends. It will help you grow your network and make new promising connections. See you!
